Yaogan 30-01 is the first triplet of a new series of Chinese military satellites launched three at a time into 600 km orbits inclined at 35°, assessed as electronic-intelligence or naval-surveillance spacecraft. Yaogan is the public designation China gives to its military reconnaissance satellites; official statements describe them only as remote-sensing spacecraft for land survey, crop estimation and disaster monitoring.
